Covid-19 Protocol for Worship at St Michael's

In accordance with Public Health authorities and guidelines from the Diocese, worship services will look a little different for the time being.

  • In-person congregation will be limited to a reduced capacity to ensure that safe physical distancing can be maintained at all times.

  • All attendees will be required to properly wear a face mask at all times, which covers nose, mouth and chin.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance and inside the church, and we ask that all attendees please sanitize their hands upon entering the church.

  • All attendees will need to add their contact information to a contact tracing sign-in sheet before worship begins. Please arrive 15-20 mins early to give yourself time to sign in and be seated before the start of worship service

  • Pews will have signs indicating spaces for congregants to be seated

  • Communion will be offered, but in an adapted format to ensure safety

  • Processions will not be a part of worship services in order to ensure safe physical distancing

  • The exchanging of the peace will be done with kind words, and without physical contact

  • There will, for the time being, be no in-person choir or singing of hymns in order to reduce any risk of viral transmission in the church

  • All worship spaces, washrooms, and public areas will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before and after each worship service

  • Collection plates will not be passed person-to-person. Instead, parishioners will be able to place their offering in the offering plate at designated stations, while observing a safe physical distance from others.

  • Sidespersons, clergy, and wardens will be available to provide guidance and direction to any attendees who are unsure of any of these new protocols.
